InSTEDD iLab SEA customized its Resource Map for a project for The Asia Foundation’s Urban Service program that focuses on the improvement of Solid Waste Management in Phnom Penh.

The Asia Foundation (TAF) works closely with and provides technical assistance to local government on developing new policies and procedures to regulate and manage solid waste management, so that communities have affordable access to basic services such as clean drinking water or garbage collection.

Date: March – April 2014
Location: Cambodia
Technology: Resource Map

From early March to late April 2014, InSTEDD iLab SEA developed a mobile data collection system that enables TAF’s volunteers, Phnom Penh’s municipality and trash collection company CINTRI to better coordinate their activities. InSTEDD iLab SEA also built a smartphone application that allows users to report the site of uncollected waste sites with text and photo and geo-location data. The reports appear on our customized web-based map using Resource Map, which also shows the location of CINTRI’s GPS-equipped tricks.
